| 2 | CBA Testing
CBA is an acronym for Cumulative Based Assessments which are district written assessments that are aligned with curriculum. All student in grade 6, 7, and 8 in the course areas of math, science, and social studies are given these tests several times during the course of the year. Next year, language arts will begin giving CBAs in that content area. At Downing Middle School, these CBAs are assigned a quiz grade for each student. |

| 3 | TAKS Testing
The Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills tests are given each year to all students in the grades 6 - 8. Students in 8th grade must pass the reading and math portion of the TAKs test in order to be promoted to the ninth grade. Please contact Downings Data Coach, Jennifer Rodgers for more specific information regarding the 8th Grade Student Success Initiative. |
