Let me begin by saying how much I love teaching. I found my calling to be a middle school teacher when I was a senior in high school. I always knew I wanted to be a teacher but never realized what grade I wanted until I did an internship in 7th grade reading with my sister in law for a year. Once I saw her interaction with those kids, I knew that teaching middle school was what I wanted. Ever since then my goal was to obtain a degree in middle school teaching.
I going into my sixth year of teaching and have loved every minute of it. I graduated from Texas A&M University (Gig'em Aggie's) with a Bachelors of Science in Language Arts, Reading and Social Studies 4th -8th grade. I am also certified in ESL as well. While attending A&M I was on the Texas Aggie Dance Team and apart of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. I received my first job at Durham Middle school and then had the oppurtunity to better my career by becoming Reading Department Chair and Team Leader at Killian Middle School, so I took the oppurtunity. Besides teaching, I have been actively involved at my school with being the cheerleading coach for over 6 years.
Besides teaching, I love spending time with my husband Ron and our miniture dachshund Zoe. Of course I love reading, spending time with Family and Friends and just enjoying life overall.
I am looking foward to a great year and hope that by the end of it, each of you walk away with a bigger and better imagination and a love for reading. |
