Hello Downing Parents and Students. Welcome to my information page. I felt as though this might be a good way for me to communicate information to you without having to wait for the newsletters to go out.
We had a wonderful first week of school. Please mark your calendars for September 16th. This is a date change from the 23rd! It came to my attention that the 23rd conflicted with the Marcus homecoming parade, so we changed the date. Please mark your calendars to reflect that change! This is our fall Open House.
We will have a PTA meeting at 6:30pm and Open House will commence at 7:00pm. Looking forward to seeing everyone!
Be sure to log on to the district website to update your criminal history background check so you can volunteer for Downing activities. The link to the district website is www.lisd.net.
UPDATE
The first cases of FLU are appearing on our campus and we need your support to help us prevent the spread of the FLU. If your child appears ill, please keep him/her home. Your child MUST be fever free (less than 100 degrees), without the use of fever reducing medications, for 24 hours before returning to school. You may refer to the LISD web site for more information regarding the FLU. Thank-you for your cooperation.
REALLY IMPORTANT INFORMATION!!!!!
New info on immunizations: Due to a shortage of certain required immunizations students may attend school without the shots until September 30th.
Campus Volunteers:
Lewisville ISD is upgrading the Volunteer Criminal History software this summer. As a result, all volunteers will be obligated to reapply to serve our campus.
The new volunteer application is ready. Please make plans to apply online at www.lisd.net so that you may continue to be eligible to serve as a campus volunteer.
NEWSFLASH!!!
STUCO Dance:
6th, 7th, and 8th graders welcome
October 16th 7-9pm
Drop off and pick up policy for dances:
We always keep the front doors locked for these dances so the drop off and pick up spot is the loops by the breezeway connecting the gym to the cafeteria.
We do expect if the students come to the dance that they stay at the dance until the end time, unless a parent comes into the dance and picks them up. Please be ready to show a form of identification and only send someone to pick up that is a legal guadian or on the list of approved people on the student information form. If your child is going to leave early with someone other than their parents, prior to the end of activity, they will need a note from home authorizing the pick up. At the end of the dance, we will release all the students just like we do at the end of the school day and if they have plans to go home with someone other that their parents we will not require a note. We do not allow students to walk home from evening activities for their own safety.
We enjoy having your children here for these after hours events. Please feel free to email any questions you make have.
Safe and Civil Schools:
We are implementing a program called Safe and Civil Schools. This is a collaborative program that works with the students, parents and staff to be more proactive with policies and teaching expectations, than reactive when students fail to meet expectations. We are so excited about this and we will need parents help! For more information about Safe and Civil Schools go to:
